Today was really a 'Problem-atic' day for me. Both a pupil and a Teacher asked me mathematics problem sums that involves heuristic. Well actually the word heuristic means 'using a problem-solving technique in which is the most appropriate solution of several found'. In short it simply means method such as 'listing out', 'guess and check' or act it out and several others. Well it took me about 5 min to solve each one which i think is still quite satisfactory although the very first instance it did bowl me over. If u want the answer send me a comment or a message. Meanwhile enjoy the problems.
Question 1.

Find the number of squares, big and small, of an 8x8 checkerboard.
Question 2.
There are two sets of marbles, grey and black with the ratio of 4:5. If 8 Grey marbles are taken away from the grey marbles and 20 marbles are added into the black marbles the ratio changed to 4:11. Find out the number of Grey and black marbles in the end.
So how is it, fun? This type of questions are favourites when it comes to PSLE.
